Joan Thomas (Gray, OL 1952)

Lauriston Girls’ School is deeply saddened by the passing of Joan Thomas, a cherished member of the Class of 1952. Joan was a devoted Old Lauristonian who greatly valued every opportunity to return to the School, reconnecting and reminiscing with her cohort - a group renowned for its lifelong friendships and strong sense of connection. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew her.

Joan especially enjoyed attending the School’s Music Lunches and took immense pride in her daughter, Anne Wallington’s longstanding connection with Lauriston through her roles as Deputy Principal and Head of Senior School.

Joan’s connection to Lauriston spanned generations. She attended the School alongside her sisters, Jocelyn Beardmore (Gray, OL 1951) and Sally Bufe (Gray, OL 1957). She was also immensely proud to see the family’s Lauriston legacy continue through her nieces, Bettina Bufe (OL 1985) and Maggie Bufe (OL 1989), and her granddaughter, Lucy Wallington.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Joan’s family, friends and all those who remember her with great love and affection.
