Lauriston Girls’ School is deeply saddened to share the passing of Julie Pappas, a highly respected educator, devoted teacher and much-valued member of our community.
Julie dedicated more than forty years to education, including eleven impactful years at Lauriston as Deputy Headmistress from 1974 to 1985. A passionate French teacher and inspiring leader, she was committed to excellence in learning and to nurturing the potential of every student in her care. Her warmth, intellect and unwavering dedication left a lasting impression on colleagues and students alike.
Julie and her family were part of Lauriston during a significant period in the School’s history, including the early years at Montrose following its acquisition in the mid-1970s. This was a time of great vision and growth for the School, and Julie played an important role in shaping the vibrant, forward-thinking community Lauriston is today.
She remained deeply fond of Lauriston throughout her life and would take great pride in knowing that the School continues to honour the values she championed - fostering curiosity, compassion and the confidence to lead. Lauriston continues this legacy, nurturing and guiding each generation of girls with the same commitment and care that Julie exemplified.
Julie’s contribution to education and to Lauriston Girls’ School has left an enduring legacy. She will be remembered with great respect and gratitude, and her influence will continue to be felt through the many lives she touched.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Julie’s family and loved ones at this time.
